Amavubi take on South Africa to lead Group C

The National team, Amavubi has on Tuesday brought an absolute win of 2:0 against the South African giants, Bafana Bafana, in a push and pull game held at Huye International Stadium.

The win has put the Amavubi on the first place in the Group C with 4 points. The three points follows one point that the Amavubi obtained from the draw against Zimbabwe last week.

The Head coach, Torsten Frank Spittler, had made little changes in the today’s match starting lineup compared to the one against the national team of Zimbabwe.

Today, Frank had substituted Hakim Sahabo, Bonheur Mugisha with Kevin Muhire and Olivier Seifu Niyonzima on the lineup.

The starting 11 saw Fiacre Ntwari (goalkeeper), Omborenga, Imanishimwe, Mutsinzi, Manzi, Niyonzima, Muhire, Bizimana, Byiringiro, Nshuti and Mugisha.

Initially, Amavubi entered the game with good passing accuracy which yielded the first goal earlier at the 12th minute. Innocent Nshuti scored the goal from a successful assist of Lague Byiringiro.

The Amavubi continued to press until the 28th minute when Gilbert Mugisha scored the second goal, marking two goals for Amavubi side in the first half.

In the second half Frank made substitution by relieving Lague Byiringiro to bring Patrick Sibomana.

At the 58th minute, he brought Hakim Sahabo to replace Muhire Kevin, who was very used up.

South Africa tried to press but Rwanda’s defenders, Thierry Manzi and Ange Mutsinzi were active to build a blockade.

It reached at 72nd minute again when Rwanda’s coach made other change by bringing Gilbert Mugisha to replace Claude Niyomugabo who had been given a yellow card. The coach also made final substitution in the last minutes.

90 regular minutes and the additional time ended with results of Rwanda 2:0 South Africa

Rwanda’s Football Federation, FERWAFA has commended the team and encouraged the players to stay in lane of success for winning in the next fixtures.

Fans are also expressing excitement and pride on different social media following the Amavubi’s win.
