Dairy Top milk enters Rwanda as Lakeside Dairy expands beyond Uganda
Ugandan dairy company Lakeside Dairy Ltd has entered the Rwandan market with its Dairy Top Long Life UHT Whole Milk, expanding its distribution beyond Uganda.
The product comes to Rwanda at a time when consumers in different parts of the country have reported concerns about milk availability and rising prices.
Dairy Top Whole Milk is processed using Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) technology, in which milk is heated to a high temperature for a short period to reduce microorganisms that can cause spoilage.
The process allows unopened milk to be stored without refrigeration for an extended period, provided it is kept according to the instructions on the packaging.
In Rwanda, Lakeside Dairy is represented by Allan Mutesa Bucyana, who said the company aims to make long-life processed milk more accessible to consumers.
“We want to provide customers in Rwanda with quality, nutritious milk that is safely processed, so that every family can have good milk for their daily needs,” he said.
Bucyana said Dairy Top Whole Milk is currently available in 200ml and 500ml packs and is being distributed in Rwanda.
He said the milk can be kept without refrigeration while unopened, provided the storage instructions on the packaging are followed.
“It can be stored without refrigeration as long as the instructions on the package are followed. Once opened, it should be refrigerated and consumed according to the instructions,” he said.
According to the product information, Dairy Top Whole Milk contains nutrients including protein, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B12.
Calcium contributes to the development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth, while protein is needed for growth and tissue repair.
Lakeside Dairy’s expansion

The company produces a range of dairy products, including fresh and fermented milk, and is part of Dodla Dairy Group.
