Zimbabwe National Team arrived in Rwanda

Zimbabwe national team, The Warriors, arrived in Rwanda to play against the Rwandan team in the first match to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Zimbabwe national team will play against Rwanda on November 15, arriving at the Kigali International Airport at midnight on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Speaking to the media, Coach Brito said that he was happy to arrive in Rwanda and added that he is coming with some of the players, and others are on the way.

When asked how he is preparing for the Amavubi, Brito replied that it is not easy for him since the players have not played any friendly games and that they have come to the areas where the preparations may not go well.

José Brito, 71, who coached The Warriors, is best known as Jose Mourinho’s assistant at FC Porto who won the UEFA Champions League in 2004 with Chelsea and coached The Special One until 2007.

The Zimbabwean national team will land in Huye on Wednesday after the other players have arrived in Kigali. It is planned that on Sunday, November 13, 2023, practice at the Kigali Pelé Stadium.

The eight players who have arrived in Kigali are Tanaka Shandirwa, Frank Makarati, Donovan Bernard, Walter Musona, Obriel Chirinda, Peter Muduhwa, Andrew Mbeba and Brian Banda, while Gerald Takwara plays for FC Ohod from Saudi Arabia.
