Rwandans in Senegal Celebrate Kwibohora32
Rwandans living in Senegal, together with their friends, gathered to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Rwanda’s Liberation (Kwibohora32) at an event marked by discussions, cultural performances and a spirit of unity.
The celebration drew a large turnout from the Rwandan community to commemorate a milestone marking the end of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and the start of Rwanda’s reconstruction and development.
The ceremony was attended by staff from the Embassy of Rwanda, diplomatic representatives based in Dakar, and Senegal’s Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Cheikhou Oumar Ba, who represented the Senegalese government.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Senegal, Festus Bizimana, paid tribute to the RPA for stopping the Genocide against the Tutsi, saying its sacrifice marked a turning point in ending years of division, injustice and persecution.
Bizimana said the liberation journey continues as Rwanda works to strengthen a society founded on freedom, security and equal treatment for all citizens.
Minister Cheikhou highlighted the importance of the Rwanda-Senegal partnership and praised the RPA’s contribution to Rwanda’s liberation, saying the two countries share a vision of a more developed and secure Africa.
Rwandan artist Jules Sentore also performed at the event, entertaining guests with traditional music.
The celebration ended with a social gathering that provided participants with an opportunity to reconnect, strengthen community ties, and share experiences.
