Zimbabwe held to draw by Super Eagles at Huye Stadium

Zimbabwe Football National Team drew with Nigeria Football National Team “Super Eagles”1-1 in the second match of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

On Sunday, November 19, 15:00 at Huye Stadium, the Zimbabwean national team hosted Nigeria, because Zimbabwe does not have a stadium approved by CAF and FIFA, so it hosted match in Rwanda, Huye.

Zimbabwe starting XI: Donovan, Mbeba, Hadebe, Takwara, Zemura, Nakamba, Rinomhota, Munetsi, Kadewere, Dube and Musona.

The Zimbabwean team had few fans, mainly its citizens living in Rwanda, and the Rwandans who liked their playing style.

On the 26th minute, Walter Knowledge Musona scored Zimbabwe’s first goal, on a direct free kick after a foul.

When Musona took a direct free kick, Nigeria’s goalkeeper Uzoho did not know where the ball went, and Zimbabwe scored the first goal.

Super Eagles XI: Uzoho, Aina, Onyemaechi, Ajayi, Bassey, Onyeka, Arino, Iwobo, Tella, Moffi and Simon.

In the Second half, the Nigerian coach made a change to bring on Kelechi Iheanecho and Victor Boniface.

This helped the team and in the 67th minute, Kelechi Iheanecho, scored equalizer goal for.

The match ended with both sides tied 1-1, both teams have 2 points from two matches, as Zimbabwe had recently drawn with Amavubi Stars 1-1, and Nigeria drew with Lesotho 1-1.
