Sunrise’s President and others arrested
The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB)has confirmed that it has arrested Hilary Hodari, the President of Sunrise FC who is also the Director of Nyagatare Dairy Marketing Cooperative, NDMC, is being suspected of crimes related to the embezzling more than Rwf160 million
According to reliable sources, the President was arrested on December 4, along with Happy Muhoza, who was the accountant of NDMC Cooperative in Nyagatare district.
Hodari and Muhoza are being probed for various crimes, including embezzlement, fraud, using authority for personal interests and corruption.
RIB spokesperson, Dr. Thierry Murangira, confirmed the arrest, stating that Hodari and Muhoza are suspected of deliberately mismanaging the cooperative and embezzling its assets.
“These crimes appeared when they obtained a loan from the bank in the cooperative’s name but failed to use it for its intended purpose. Hilary Hodari, as the President of the Cooperative, falsely declared himself as a salaried employee which is prohibited by the law.”
The RIB spokesperson further stated that Hodari had misused the cooperative’s assets in various ways, such as using the cooperative’s fuel for his personal vehicle and lying that it was the cooperative’s electric motor. Additionally, he took to his home a lawnmower that was belonging to the cooperative for rental and the fees from it entered in his pocket “.
Hodari and Muhoza are currently detained at the Nyagatare RIB Station while the further investigation is ongoing.
