Rwandan footballer, Bertrand Iradukunda retires


Rwandan footballer,Jean Bertrand Iradukunda has on December 1 announced that he is retiring from professional football at age of 28.

On October 19, 2023, Jean Bertrand Iradukunda, also known as “Kanyarwanda” left Rwanda for Canada. He left while he had signed for Musanze FC yet he had not played any match for the team.

On his way to Canada, he was asked by journalists if he would stop playing football but couldn’t confirm at that time until today on the 1st December. He said he thanks God for everything happened throughout the journey .

“I am officially retiring as professional football player. Thank you God for everything that happened along the journey”.

Jean Bertrand Iradukunda started playing football professionally since 2012 in the collapsed Isonga FC. In June 2014, he moved to APR FC and played for two years.

In 2016, Bertrand signed for Bugesera FC and played there for one year and then moved to Police FC for one year again. In 2018 he went to Mukura VS and tried to stay for two years until 2020 when he left the ‘black and yellow’ team for KNC’s Gasogi United.

Later , Bertrand flight to Botswana for Township Rollers but couldn’t stay long. He returned to Rwanda following a call by Kiyovu Sports FC which he left very earlier. Bernard is continuing the retirement in Canada where he resides.
