Kagame suspends Governor CG (rtd) Gasana
President Paul Kagame on Tuesday suspended the Governors of Eastern province due to matters under investigation.
“Today on 25th October 2023, CG (rtd) Emmanuel Gasana has been suspended from duties as Governor of the Eastern province due to matter under investigation” a statement signed by the Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente on behalf of the head of state reads.
CG (rtd) Gasana was appointed the Governor of the Eastern Province in March 2021. It was ten months after he was suspended from the position of the Governor of the Southern Province, at that time it was also said that he was being investigated.
Before becoming the Governor of the Southern Province in 2018, Gasana served as the Director General of Rwanda Police for a period of nine years.
In September this year, CG Gasana and his colleagues were retired from the Rwanda Police.
