Collapse at Nyamasheke work site kills One, injures Three
Nyamasheke District Administration responded to four men involved in a wall collapse at a construction site, which killed one and sent two to the hospital.
A building under construction collapsed in Nyamasheke District, Ruharambuga sector, Kanazi cell, a location commonly referred to as “Shangazi”.
The event occurred at a fuel station construction site, leading to the immediate death of one person, while three others sustained injuries.
That wall fell on the builders in the early hours of Monday, January 16, 2024.
Mupenzi Narcisse, the mayor of Nyamasheke, said that one of the four people who took him out died.
Mayor Mupenzi said that the cause of the accident is not yet known and that the RIB is still investigating to determine the cause.
The incident adds to the challenges faced by the district, as heavy rains have been wreaking havoc, resulting in road closures for maintenance purposes.
