Agaciro Development and Hinga Wunguke sign agricultural cooperation deal

On November 22 Agaciro Development Fund entered partnerships with the Feed the future Rwanda Hinga Wunguke Activity to strengthen food systems for producers and smallholder farmers to access to formal, and inclusive markets that benefit women, youths and other groups.

The partnership will also identify and implement co-investment opportunities for companies and business models that support farmers to access markets and adopt better post-harvest handling practices.

According to Daniel Gies, the Chief of party of Hinga Wunguke, the development will create markets for farmers in 13 districts where the project operates.

” We are glad that this partnership allows us to better support our partners such as Rwanda Fertilizer Company to significantly improve farmers’s access to and use of specially-blended fertilizer to increase their production”. He said.

In addition, in order to improve nutritional outcomes, the partnership will intend to leverage resources to catalyze and enable to scale operations.

On the side of Agaciro Development Fund, the contribution will be to close financial gaps for agribusiness companies.

” Through Hinga Wunguke, Agaciro will be able to access technical assistance which will enhance the ability of Agaciro and other co-investors to deploy more capital efficiently and effectively in Agribusiness”. Said AgDF, CEO.

Currently, the districts that will benefit from the operations until 2028 are; Bugesera, Burera, Gakenke, Gatsibo, Karongi,Kayonza, Ngoma, Nyabihu, Nyamagabe, Nyamasheke, Ngororero, Rubavu and Rutsiro.
